Grade Guarantee Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 17 July 2026
Teachably’s 120-Day Grade Guarantee (the “guarantee”) is offered subject to the conditions set out below. Please read this page carefully before enrolling. If anything is unclear, contact us at asad@teachably.co.uk before coaching begins.
1. What the guarantee covers
This guarantee is available exclusively to students enrolled on Teachably’s Gold 1-on-1 coaching package at £400 per month (2 lessons per week, £50 per lesson), paid at full price. It does not apply to discounted, promotional, sibling, or referral-rate enrolments, one-off sessions, or reduced-frequency arrangements.
Depending on the student’s starting grade, as measured by Teachably’s initial diagnostic assessment:
- Starting at Grade 5 or above: we guarantee a Grade 7, 8, or 9 in GCSE Maths (Higher tier) within 120 days of starting coaching.
- Starting at Grade 4 or below: we guarantee an improvement of at least 2 full grades within 120 days, or a Grade 7-9 within 180 days.
If the relevant target is not met, and all eligibility conditions in Section 2 have been satisfied, the student will continue to receive coaching at no extra cost until the target grade is achieved.
2. Eligibility conditions
The guarantee applies only where all of the following are true:
- The student completed Teachably’s initial diagnostic assessment before coaching began, and a baseline grade was recorded.
- The student attended at least 90% of scheduled sessions during the guarantee period.
- The student completed assigned homework or practice tasks in at least 90% of weeks.
- Sessions were paused or rescheduled no more than 4 times during the guarantee period. Beyond this limit, the guarantee period is extended by one day for each additional paused or rescheduled session, rather than becoming void.
- Session frequency remained at 2 lessons per week throughout. If frequency drops below 2 lessons per week at any point, the guarantee is void from that point forward. Sessions completed prior to the change still count toward eligibility, but no further guarantee claim can be made.
- Payment was maintained and up to date throughout, at full price.
- The final result is based on a full GCSE Maths paper (Higher tier) sat under timed exam conditions, as set out in Section 4.
3. The guarantee period
The guarantee period begins on the date of the student’s first coaching session, not the date of sign-up or payment. The applicable length (120 or 180 days) and end date are confirmed in writing at the start of coaching, based on the diagnostic result.
4. How the final grade is determined
The final grade is determined as follows:
- Teachably selects a genuine past GCSE Maths paper set at Higher tier by AQA, Edexcel or OCR, and confirms this choice with the parent in writing.
- The student sits this paper under timed exam conditions, administered by Teachably.
- The paper is marked against the official mark scheme and grade boundaries published for that paper’s series.
- If the student sits a genuine school mock or exam within the guarantee period, using a real board paper under proper timed conditions, this result may be accepted as an alternative, at Teachably’s discretion and only if it is at least as rigorous as the Teachably-administered assessment.
5. Learning difficulties and additional needs
At diagnostic, parents and guardians will be asked to disclose any diagnosed or suspected learning difficulty, SEN status, EHCP, or additional need. This is a required step of onboarding.
- Disclosed at diagnostic: where a learning difficulty or additional need is disclosed before coaching begins, Teachably will confirm in writing whether the standard guarantee applies, an adjusted target applies, or the guarantee does not apply, before coaching starts.
- Undisclosed at diagnostic: guarantee claims do not apply where a learning difficulty, SEN status, or other relevant circumstance was not disclosed at diagnostic and materially affects the student’s ability to progress.
- Emerging during coaching: if a previously unknown learning need is identified after coaching has started, Teachably may pause and reassess the guarantee terms in consultation with the parent, rather than voiding it outright.
6. What is not covered
The guarantee does not cover:
- Undisclosed special educational needs or circumstances not shared at diagnostic that materially affect progress (see Section 5).
- Non-attendance, non-completion of homework, or absence that reduces attendance below the 90% threshold.
- Results in exam boards or tiers other than those agreed at the outset.
- Foundation tier entries. The guarantee applies to Higher tier only.
- Any package other than the £400 per month, 2-lessons-per-week Gold package at full price.
7. How to claim
If the guarantee conditions are met and the target is not achieved, contact asad@teachably.co.uk within 14 days of the qualifying result, providing the marked paper and attendance and homework records. Claims are reviewed against records held by Teachably.
8. General
Teachably reserves the right to update these terms for new students; existing students remain covered by the terms in place when they started coaching. This guarantee does not affect your statutory rights.
